According to the latest data report of CCS Insights, a market research organization, the overall shipments of wearable devices (smart watches, smart bracelets) in 2020 will be 193 million, a year-on-year increase of about 24%. Among them, smart watches have become the mainstream products on the wrist with 115 million shipments. The core of this solution is the NXP i.MX RT500 processor, which is equipped with two processing units, Cortex M33 and Cadence Fusion DSP, with a main frequency of up to 200MHz. In terms of memory, i.MX RT500 integrates up to 5MB of SRAM, which allows engineers to pre-store more graphic files on the internal memory to achieve a high-performance graphic display interface. Generally speaking, this situation requires extremely high power consumption. But this product improves the circuit structure, even in the case of large-capacity SRAM, it can maintain low power consumption.

In terms of process, i.MX RT500 uses a 28nm FD-SOI depletion silicon-on-insulator process. The advantage of this process is that it can improve the processor’s main frequency performance while controlling power consumption as much as possible. To achieve a perfect balance between high performance and power consumption. In addition, this product also has rich interfaces of USB, SD, MIPI, and DMIC, which can realize flexible configuration.
