On May 17, 2021, Dalian General Holdings, a leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary World Peace has launched a 3D face recognition E- Lock solution.

Under the rapid promotion of emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, the smart home industry has entered a period of rapid development in recent years, and smart door locks, as one of the “just-needed” products, have attracted widespread attention from the market and consumers. Compared with traditional mechanical key door locks, smart door locks have huge advantages in terms of safety, convenience and functionality. In terms of security, which is the most important thing for people at present, the smart door lock greatly guarantees the safety of the user’s residence by virtue of its own complex internal structure and intelligent anti-prying alarm function. At the same time, in terms of unlocking methods, different from the previous single key unlocking method, smart door locks have a variety of advanced unlocking methods such as password, fingerprint recognition, credit card, Bluetooth and face recognition.

The smart door lock solution launched by Dalian World Peace is based on NXP LPC54101 as the main control MCU, and has four unlocking methods: password, card swipe, fingerprint and face recognition. As a cost-effective MCU product launched by NXP, LPC54101 is equipped with an Arm® Cortex®-M4 processor, running at a frequency of up to 100MHz, and has many advantages such as low power consumption, easy debugging, and high performance.

The i.MX 7ULP face module installed in the solution supports 3D structured light camera, and combined with 3D face recognition algorithm, the depth information of the face (such as the bridge of the nose, lips, etc.) can be trained into adult facial features to achieve higher accuracy and safety. High-level 3D face anti-counterfeiting and face recognition functions.
